Terumah

תְּרוּמָה
📜 Weekly parasha🃏 8 cards Exodus 25:1-27:19

The big idea

Contribution

GIVING from the heart - the joy and pride of contributing something special to build something beautiful together.

Teacher opens with: “This is Parashat Terumah! Can you say "Terumah"? Terumah! It means a special gift that you give from your HEART. This week, the Jewish people are going to build something SO special - and everyone gets to help! When we give something to help others, it makes us feel really good inside. Put your hand on your heart - that's where the good feeling is!”

For teachers

Teacher materials

Everything you need to teach Terumah this week, in one place.

Present mode

🗓️ How to use this week

Teach a few cards a day in one short circle times, about 38 minutes each. Read each card's back as you go: it has what to say, what to ask, and the Hebrew.

  • Day 1opening card + Stories 1–4 + talk card + talk card + תְּרוּמָה

On a projector or big screen, use ▶ Present mode: it follows this plan, and the D key jumps to the next day.

🖨️ Printing tips

  • 📄 Everything is on US letter paper. Print at actual size (100%), not “fit to page”.
  • 🔁 Cards: print double-sided and flip on the long edge, so each picture backs onto its teacher side. Each card is one full sheet: no cutting needed.

A Special Request

בַּקָּשָׁה מְיֻחֶדֶת

God said to Moses, "I have a very special job for the people. Ask them to bring gifts - but not just any gifts. Gifts from their HEARTS!" That means gifts they REALLY want to give. Put your hand on your heart. Can you feel it? When we give from our heart, it means we really, truly want to help! Moses was so excited to tell everyone! ▸ Put your hand on your heart - that's where giving comes from!

Let's talk

Questions that connect the story to kids' own lives.

What Can I Give?

  • If we were building something special for our classroom, what would YOU bring to help?
  • How do you think the people felt when they gave their special gifts?

Helping Together

  • Have you ever helped build or make something with other people? What did you make?
  • Why is it more fun to build something with friends than all alone?

Power word

One Hebrew word to take home.

Gift / Contribution

Our special Hebrew word today is TERUMAH! Can you say it? Te-ru-MAH! It means a gift - but not just any gift. A terumah is a gift you give because you WANT to, from your heart. The Torah says the people brought gifts "from everyone whose heart moved them." That means they felt the giving feeling inside! When you share something because you want to help, that's a terumah. Can you think of a terumah you gave? Let's say it again: Terumah!
